Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 NLT

“And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.” Colossians 3:14 MSG

This is how we WEAR LOVE at Anchor Church:

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” 2 Timothy 3:16 NLT

We have a loving Father and His Word gives us instructions for life. We surrender to Jesus, who forgives us and gives us a new life. We are Spirit-led and we pray about everything. Prayer is our first response, not our last resort.

Additional scriptures: Ephesians 1:7, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 5:22-24, Romans 12:6-8

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT

We are learning to see ourselves as God sees us. We find our purpose in life and live it. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We admit our weakness and know that we are a work in progress. We forget the past, embrace the present, and have hope for the future.

Additional scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT

We communicate with honesty. We confront, we apologize, and we forgive. We don’t gossip. We are committed to one another in small groups where we can have accountability, trust, and transparency.

Additional scriptures: Proverbs 27:17, Hebrews 10:24-25

“And now, friends, we ask you to honor those leaders who work so hard for you, who have been given the responsibility of urging and guiding you along in your obedience. Overwhelm them with appreciation and love!” 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 NLT

Leaders need you as much as you need them. They work hard to bless us, so we encourage, listen, honor, trust, defend, protect and pray for them.

Additional scripture: Hebrews 13:17

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT

We love like family. We celebrate on the mountaintops and cry in the valleys together. We all get involved because someone here needs what you have.

Additional scriptures: James 5:16, Acts 2:42-47

“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:35 NLT

We believe that heaven and hell are real. The lost matter to God, so they must matter to us. We’re inclusive. We welcome everyone and we lead with love and grace.
