Serve Day is an amazing opportunity for all of us, the local church, to go into our communities and love our neighbors. On this annual one day of service, thousands of people across the country will take on practical projects to help others, and through these acts of service, we hope people’s hearts will be opened to the love of Jesus.
Anchor Church is part of the Association of Related Churches (ARC), the group that initiated Serve Day across the nation. As we partner together with other ARC churches, we know that those who serve will be just as blessed, if not more, as those we serve.
Opportunities to serve in our communities abound if you look around you. From simple things that can be completed by one or two people to bigger projects that a Connect Group or other friends and family can tackle. Everyone can do something to share Jesus’ love and make someone’s life better, and our goal is that everyone that calls Anchor Church home would take up that challenge. Here are some ideas.
SERVE IT YOUR WAY
If you see a need in your community and want to fill it on your own, with your Connect Group, family or group of friends, let us know what you’ll be doing on July 20 and whom you’ll be doing it with. It can be as simple as mowing your neighbor’s yard or babysitting for new parents to cleaning a beach or painting a park’s restrooms.
BACKPACKS OF BLESSINGS
You might be surprised to learn that more than 50% of our Kaneohe students are on the free or reduced lunch program. Even more families are struggling as parents face the very real challenge of providing the basic school supplies their children need.
Here’s your chance to make a huge impact on our local families and schools by doing something as simple as donating money to purchase supplies or helping out when we distribute the 600 backpacks on Saturday, July 20 from 2:00 to 6:00PM on our campus.
There are several ways to participate.
- You can make a donation to Anchor Dream Center to purchase school supplies by clicking here.
- You can help stuff the backpacks on Saturday, July 13 from 8:30 to 11:30AM
- You can help on Saturday, July 20 at the free Backpacks of Blessings event coordinated by the Anchor Dream Center.
SATURDAY, JULY 14
Serve Day is an amazing opportunity for all of us, the local church, to go into our communities and love our neighbors. On this one day of service, thousands of people will take on practical projects to help others, and through these acts of service, we hope people’s hearts will be opened to the love of Jesus.
You can do toiletry drives within your work, school or community to donate to Aloha Dream Center. These items are given to various families in need through our outreach projects: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, bar soap, shower gel, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, feminine sanitary supplies, combs, brushes, first aid kits, baby wipes, diapers, mouthwash, and dental floss.
LOCAL SCHOOL SUPPORT
Anchor Church wants to support and be a blessing to schools in our community. Dream Team opportunities include campus cleanups, repairs, painting, reading, tutoring, coaching, mentoring and special events.
